Ethan
Bensdorf :
Trumpet
Ethan Bensdorf is currently attending Northwestern
University working towards his Bachelor's degree
in Music Performance and studying with Barbara Butler
and Charles Geyer. Growing up in a musical family,
he was turned on to classical music at a young age
and started playing the trumpet at age 11. Ethan
attributes much of his musical training to Interlochen
Arts Camp where he spent seven summers intensively
studying and improving. There he was principal trumpet
of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, was the recipient
of the Emerson Scholarship from the state of Illinois,
and was awarded the Fine Arts Award.
As
a chamber musician, Ethan was a founding member
of the Panoramic Brass Quintet, semifinalists at
the 2003 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition,
and winners of the Rembrandt Chamber Players' Youth
Chamber Music Competition. Ethan is currently a
member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, training
orchestra for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He
has participated at such summer festivals as Pacific
Music Festival in Japan, and the National Orchestral
Institute in Maryland. Throughout his orchestral
playing career, Ethan has performed under the batons
of such world renowned conductors as Lorin Maazel,
Gerard Schwarz, Neemi Jaarvi, David Robertson, and
Valery Gergiev. Ethan is a current active freelancer
in the Chicago area where he has performed with
such groups as the Lira Ensemble and the Chicago
Chamber Orchestra.

David
Leon : Trumpet
Currently one of Chicago's most active performing
trumpet players, Mr. Leon received his musical training
at the Eastman School of Music and Northwestern
University School of Music where he graduated Cum
Laude. A seasoned orchestral musician since the
age of 19, Mr. Leon has performed with such renowned
ensembles as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the
Ravinia Festival Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony,
Symphony II, the Rochester Philharmonic, the Syracuse
Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra and
the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In the spring of
2000 while on tour, Mr. Leon made his Carnegie Hall
debut under Daniel Barenboim. He has also performed
under other great conductors such as Neemi Jarvi,
Charles Dutoit, Gerard Schwarz, Pierre Boulez, and
Michael Tilson Thomas.
In
demand internationally as a guest performer/soloist,
he has appeared with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra
and La Orquestra Sinfonica de Tenerife (Spain).
A familiar face at the country's most prestigious
music festivals, Mr. Leon has been invited to such
prestigious summer festivals such as the National
Repertory Orchestra in Colorado, the Music Academy
of the West in Santa Barbara, Tanglewood Festival
Orchestra in Massachusetts, Aspen Music Festival
in Colorado, and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan.
Mr. Leon's active solo and studio career began early
on. After performing Haydn's "Concerto in Eb" in
Tacoma, Washington, following his first two years
of trumpet studies, his solo and recital career
led him to performances throughout New York, Illinois
and Washington State. In addition to classical and
popular television and radio recordings with the
Chicago Recording Company, he has been twice featured
on Japanese national television as principal trumpet/soloist
with such noted ensembles as the Pacific Music Festival
Orchestra in Sapporo and the Eastman Wind Ensemble
in Tokyo.

DeAunn
Davis : Horn
DeAunn
Davis received her bachelors in horn performance from
Northwestern University in 2003. Since then, she has
been teaching privately, performing regularly with
the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and working full-time
at the Northwestern University Music Library. In the
fall, DeAunn will begin to pursue a Master's degree
from DePaul University. |

Jeremiah
Frederick :
Horn
Hornist Jeremiah Frederick is currently a freelance
artist in Chicago and Northern Indiana. He holds
the positions of Fourth horn with the Fort Wayne
Philharmonic and Associate Principal horn with the
South Bend Symphony. In addition, Jeremiah has played
with other fine ensembles including the Civic Orchestra
of Chicago, the Elgin, Northwest Indiana, and Omaha
Symphonies, and the Philly Pops Orchestra in Philadelphia.
He enjoys new music performance and to this end
has played with contempo at the University
of Chicago and the Chicago Symphony's MusicNow series.
As a soloist, Jeremiah was awarded third place in
the American Horn Competition in 2001. Solo engagements
have included performances of Mozart’s Sinfonia
Concertante with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic
and Jacob's Concerto For Horn and Strings
at Northwestern University.
An
avid chamber musician, Mr. Frederick is a member
of the Stonegate Brass, Third Coast Brass and the
Millar Brass Ensemble. He is also a founding member
of Quintet Attacca, a wind quintet and winner of
the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition's
Grand Prize and Senior Wind Division Gold Medal
in 2002. Following this great honor, Quintet Attacca
has toured extensively in the Midwest, been an ensemble-in-residence
at Italy's Emiglia Romagna Festival and recently
made their New York debut at the Schneider Concert
series at New School University. Jeremiah graduated
from Northwestern University in 2000 with a Masters'
Degree in performance and received his Bachelor's
from Lawrence University. His teachers have included
Gail Williams, Bill Barnewitz, Dale Clevenger, and
James DeCorsey.
